The primary regular racing activity for the Dallas Snipe Fleet 001 during the Winter is our Long Course Series where we join the Sunday afternoon Corinthian Sailing Club racing program, rigging up around 12:00, leaving the dock around 1:10 and making it to a starting line by 1:30 where we either have our own start or start with the Flying Scot fleet, depending upon the number of Snipes in attendance. Finishes are recorded and the top skipper at the end of the season (November 2020-October 2021) is awarded the annual Fleet Championship Trophy. Sometimes during the Winter we will hold Short Course Series races on either Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon, depending upon weather and participation requests. Click here for a copy of the detailed sailing instructions for 2021 for both Fleet Championship Series and the Short Course Series.

December 27, 2020: We had 3 boats signed up for Short Course Series and 4 boats signed up for Long Course Series, both to be run at the same time. Between noon and 1:00 the wind was steady 20MPH with gusts to 30MPH coming from the Southwest, a direction that is very unstable and can generate gusts over 50MPH. So the CSC race committee canceled the Long Course races for the day. A few of us hung around as the wind was coming down and we set a short course with only reaching legs away from the clubhouse and back and started rigging five boats to go out and do some high wind reaching. By the time we got on the course the wind had died down to less than planing conditions. We raced two reaching leg races and then set up our regular windward leeward course and had four more races with the five boats. The temperature climbed to 70 degrees and it turned out to be a marvelous sailing day.
