The primary regular racing activity for the Dallas Snipe Fleet 001 is our Long Course Series where we join the Sunday afternoon Corinthian Sailing Club racing program, rigging up around 12:00, leaving the dock around 1:10 and making it to a starting line by 1:30 where we either have our own start or start with on of the other fleets, depending upon the number of Snipes in attendance. During July and August, this series is conducted on Saturday mornings, rigging at 8:00 and first gun at 9:00. Finishes are recorded and the top skipper at the end of the season (November 2024-October 2025) is awarded the annual Fleet Championship Trophy. Two points are awarded separately for skipper and crew for participating in a race plus one point for each boat they finish in front of. Additionally, each fleet member who participates in running race committee for the Long Course is awarded two points for each race.
We also hold Short Course Series races on Saturday mornings, rigging at 10:00 AM, except in July and August when we rig at 8:00 AM to escape the afternoon heat and in January through March when we rig at noon to escape the morning cold. Beginner and novice instruction sessions are held at 6:00 pm on each Thursday evening at the CSC Pavilion during the months of daylight savings time.
Racing rules sessions (for all levels) are held at different times during the year.
Fleet meetings are held at 7:30 pm on the second Wednesday of each month (except December) in the CSC clubhouse or at a fleet member's home, including 30 minutes for social time and a potluck supper. In early December we hold an annual meeting which includes an awards ceremony and holiday party
